Meet the Team: Auryn

I am part of the Oracle Crew. We are named after The Neverending Story.  We were born on September 28, 2013. I am by far the smallest of the Crew and of Team Ineka. I am a triplet with Atreyu and Bastian. Needless to say my brothers hogged everything!

I struggled in the beginning but Nicole took care of me. Constantly making sure I got access to food and lots of hugs and kisses. I learned to stand up for myself quite well. In fact I’m a spitfire.

Last summer was my first time in harness. Nicole took me out with the bike to teach me leader training. I loved running beside her.

This past fall I lined out with my siblings in front of the sled and loved every chance we got to run on the cool soft powder.

I’m still the smallest in the kennel………this spring just after break up when the dog lot is soggy and all of the mushers are not feeling well, some of us dogs get sick too.  I got sick first. It happened so fast, no one knew what I was going through.  Everyone that I loved was nearby and I left Team Ineka to take on another adventure.

Meet the Team: BreBre

Hi my name is BreBre and I am part of the 9-11 Crew. My brothers and sisters are named after the amazing and courageous dogs that took part in the September 11th disasters.

When I was just a few weeks old Michele was concerned about me. I was a little bit shy and didn’t participate in playing with my siblings.  She spent lots of time with me.

By the time I joined the kennel it was clear that I wasn’t to interested in the sled dog life!

Michele took me out of the kennel often and she and Nicole trained me to work as a therapy dog. While I was still under two years of age Michele met Josh.

Josh and I share our birthday!  That made me so happy.  When Michele and Nicole drove me to Josh’s house I was nervous. But Nicole walked me around a park near his house to calm me. She told me secrets.  I understood that it was my job now to watch over, protect and encourage my new friend Josh!

Shock

Hi my name is Shock, I’m part of the Nightmare Crew. We are named after the Tim Burton movie “Nightmare Before Christmas”  We live up to our names!  At the end of the season last year we started training on the sled. On my second time out with Ms. Michele, she took a chance on me and put me in lead with Ringo ( a veteran of Team Ineka)  I ran in lead for 6 miles and I had a blast!

Shock is one of the main leaders of Team Ineka. She is a veteran of two Junior Iditarods on Nicoles team. She is also the mom to the new pups in the kennel, the four brothers known as the WaG Crew.

Meet the Team: Atreyu

Hi, my name is Atreyu. I am part of the Oracle Crew and we are the youngest pups in the kennel. Last year I started training with the big team. I am already looking forrward to next winter!

Spencer of Team Ineka

This is Spencer. He is getting a little grey but still one awesome sled dog. He arrived from our good friend, Hugh Neff’s kennel the second year we were in Alaska and has been a solid foundation on our team on just about every training run and race we have ever done.

Spencer is the brother to one of our main lead dogs, Sidney. Spencer is a big lover. He loves to gives hugs and kisses and will nuzzle up to you when ever we are in the kennel.

Burton

Hi my name is Burton, I’m part of the Nightmare Crew. We are named after the Tim Burton movie “Nightmare Before Christmas”  We live up to our names!  At the end of the season last year we started training on the sled.

I have been running on the A Team since I was a pup. I like to run in wheel with my mom, Rasp and enjoy running fast in the dryland races too.
