Date: December 7, 2010
Distance: 17.32 miles. 2:11:33. Average 8.3 mph
Weather: 34 degrees and overcast
Equipment: Sled
Trail Conditions: snow packed
Dog Positions: 10 dog team: Zak-Katya, Wu-Jewel, Shifter-Chickadee, Shirkle-Drifter Piglet-Zambonie
Music Choice: Johnny Cash shuffle
Notes: This was the second run of the day and it did not go as well as the first. The leaders kept wanting to turn around and “investigate” each other and caused a couple of tangles. I did happen to see a couple of moose about 30 feet up the trail. It looked like a young cow and her calf.
We met a team on an uphill that was stopped and the head to head pass went well.
I took a wrong turn at the lake and headed up a trail I had not been on before. After a couple miles I figured it would be best to turn around as it was getting dark. What a chore it was to turn around a 10 dog team on a 3 foot wide trail in the woods!
